DutyWise is a free import-duty calculator. This is a plain-language summary of what we collect and why. It is not legal advice.

What we collect

Anonymous usage analytics. We log how the tool is used (pages viewed, products classified, codes corrected) against a random, anonymous session identifier. This contains no name, account, or contact details. When you type an email into the alert form, only the domain (for example company.com) is recorded in analytics, never the full address.

Alert subscriptions. If you ask to be notified when a duty changes, we store the email address you provide and the product or HTS code you asked about, so we can email you when that rate changes.

Privacy-friendly web analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a cookie-free, privacy-first service, to understand our audience in aggregate: pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location (country, region, and city, derived from your IP address, which Plausible does not store), and device type, browser, and operating system. Plausible sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does not track you across websites. All metrics are aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.

First-party usage beacon.We also run our own lightweight, cookieless beacon (“Command Center”) that records anonymous page views and product interactions to a server we operate. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and is used only to understand aggregate usage. You can opt this device out at any time by opening any page with ?cc_ignore=1 in the address bar.

How we use it

Usage data improves our classification accuracy and the product. Subscription emails are used only to send the duty-change alerts you requested. We do not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.

Cookies

We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme preference is stored locally in your browser only.

Unsubscribe

Alerts are opt-in. You can remove your address at any time on the unsubscribe page.

Storage & contact

Subscription and usage data are stored in a managed Postgres database (Supabase); aggregate web analytics are processed by Plausible (EU-based, GDPR-compliant) and our own cookieless Command Center beacon. For any privacy question, contact privacy@dutywise.app.
